Organized by the Macau Professional Speaking Association, in collaboration with the Language Exchange & Cultural Promotion Association, the Society of Food & Environmental Health, and the Sustainable Development Association, the exhibition is set to run for fourteen days at Universal Gallery & Bookstore. The Macao-wide English Essay Competition is the first English writing competition centered around the United Nations’ 17 SDGs in Macau. Targeting youths, the competition is divided into four categories: university, high school, middle school, and primary school. Over 1,600 students from forty-seven schools enthusiastically participated in this year’s competition, focused on the theme of “Nature and Me.”
As an extension to the contest and bring more awareness to the theme through the power of the written word, an exhibition will be held for two weeks. Adopting a combination of online and offline approaches, it will showcase excerpts from winning essays with the option of reading the full essays online. In addition to the essays, students will use pictures and displays to introduce their perspectives on “nature” to the audience. The exhibition also features introductions to the SDGs, a sustainable development commitment tree, and an online game, allowing the audience to gain a diverse and interactive understanding of the youth’s support and commitment to sustainable development, as well as the essence of the SDGs.
The opening ceremony included student sharing sessions and guided tours. With the support and presence of school representatives, youth student associations, and students along with their families, the atmosphere was lively and vibrant.
