Macao, China: The world is becoming increasingly urbanized. While the world enjoys economic growth, it also faces challenges such as overburdened infrastructure, worsening air pollution, and a lack of affordable housing. Since 2014, UN Habitat has organized Urban October, a month-long initiative that highlights the challenges and solutions relating to cities, towns, and communities.
In celebration of World Habitat Day and World Cities Day, Macau Speech Professionals Association will host the Macao-wide English Essay Competition from September to December 2021. Through this competition, students will learn about the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals and reflect on the theme: “The Change I Want to Make.”
